Habits run on autopilot. That's why willpower alone struggles with them: you've done it before you've noticed. Hypnotherapy works with that automatic part of you, so a different response can become the new normal.
What it can feel like
Nail biting, skin picking, reaching for your phone, snacking in the evening: things you'd rather not do, but that happen almost by themselves, often when you're tired, bored or stressed.
How hypnotherapy can help
First we get to know the habit: when it happens, what sets it off, and what it does for you. Then, in a focused state, we rehearse noticing the trigger earlier and choosing something else, until that choice starts to feel automatic too.
Because habits often meet a need, such as comfort or a break, we make sure that need is met another way.
What we'll do in sessions
- Mapping the habit and its triggers
- Building an early "noticing" signal
- Rehearsing a new response until it feels natural
- Simple things to practise at home
If a habit is causing you physical harm, such as broken skin or infections, please see your GP as well.
Questions people ask
Can it help with nail biting?
Yes, it's one of the most common habits people come with.
What about phone or social media habits?
Yes. We work the same way: noticing the trigger and building a different response.
Will I have to give it up completely?
That's up to you. Some people want to stop; others want it back under their control.
Sessions are available in person in Hexham and online, wherever you are.
